July 22, 2024
Dear members,
We hope this letter finds you in good health and good spirits during this summer period.
Following the proposal of Gilbert Guerne, our president, and Christian Papis, our artistic director, we are pleased to announce a new initiative in favor of young opera artists in our department. From now on, members who wish can make donations and thus become patrons of promising young talents from the Eastern Pyrenees.
These donations will aim to support these young artists in their artistic journey, financing their trips to participate in international singing competitions, covering their transport and accommodation expenses, as well as allowing them to access the highest level of Master Class.
We have the great pleasure of introducing you to the first beneficiary of this program: Amandine Sanchez. Amandine has just successfully completed her diploma in musical studies in lyrical singing in Sabine Riva’s class at the Perpignan Conservatory. She also reached the semi-finals of the Froville Baroque Singing Competition and is preparing to compete there in September for the final. Some of you have already heard her in concert and specifically in the main role of Rosine in El barber de Sevilla given in the previous edition of the Amuvall festival. You can hear it again or discover it in the new 2024 edition of the festival.
A new association is being created to organize and structure this support for young singers. Its founders will be the MVPC association and the first donors. Sabine Riva has offered to be the president of the association and Jacques Fauxpoint to be the treasurer when it is established. In the meantime, your donations can be sent to our association “Musiques et Voix en Pays Catalan” or by clicking on the “Make a donation by card” button. They will be given to the new association as soon as it has its bank account. The new structure will issue you tax receipts in due course.
We wish Amandine Sanchez a successful development journey and great achievements. Catalans can now be proud to have supported and seen talents such as soprano Lauranne Oliva, a former student of Sabine Riva, and Christian Papis, whose teaching continues, flourish. Lauranne is now pursuing a remarkable international career after winning several prestigious competitions. Like Amandine, you will be able to hear him during the next edition of our festival.
We are convinced that the Pyrénées Orientales are a real breeding ground for young talents who are just waiting to spread their wings to reach the highest peaks of the lyrical art. With your help and generosity, we can give them the means to make their dreams come true and bring the colors of our region to the top of international stages.
We thank you in advance for your support and remain at your disposal for any questions or additional information.
Sincerely,
Gilbert Guerne
